I am the Protagonist!!!

Submission for GMTK Jam 2021 based on the theme Joined Together. Our game is a competitive, side scroller where both players control the "same" character, who got bugged and duplicated. Clone against original now the two of them fight for the protagonism in the game. Being the same character, they have their Lives joined together, sharing not only Life Bar, but their Dash Counter and entire HUD. The goal of the game is to collect 5 coins first, that's the only way to become the protagonist. CONTROLS Player 1 WASD - Movement/Jump Left Shift - Dash Left Ctrl - Shoot Player 2 Arrows - Movement/Jump Right Shift - Dash Right Ctrl - Shoot NOTE FROM THE DEVS Since this project was rushed because of the time limit, it was left as good as incomplete. Taking every feedback from the community we plan on returning for this little game to give it a good twist: implementing new mechanics of movement (like Towerfall Ascension), some nice VFX to juice up everything, the whole sound design we sadly had to left behind, a whole bunch of levels, in game narrative to explore the battle between protagonists and of course a proper AI for those who want to experience the game by themselves.
