Build a Shopkeeper

This supplement can help you create a shopkeeper character for whatever you need, whether it’s an NPC to add to a TTRPG, a location for a story, or a tavern owner for TikTok. It’s made to work for a wide range of shops and settings, so some prompts may not be applicable to your character, or might inspire related answers for your chosen setting. Many of the prompts are for the shop itself rather than the character, but the shop and shopkeeper can be interwoven and inform one another. Included are 20 types of shops and 4 simple backgrounds to choose from, as well as 40 prompts, many with multiple questions. Roll dice or choose from the numbered tables, or use your own idea, then go through the prompts and answer as many as you’d like. As you create your character and location, take a mental walk through your shop, imagining what your different senses experience as you answer the prompts. Also included are 12 basic shop starters, with a shop type and name and a detail about the shop. Feel free to use those wherever you would like, and add or change up as many details as you’d like.
