We’re Wolf Studio, and we’re excited to present Mist King, a retro 8-bit point-and-click adventure game with a detective twist. 🧭Theme & Concept Mist King fits the Game Jam theme “The Next Version is Yours” by reimagining a classic Portuguese legend — the story of King Dom Sebastião. We turned the legend into a modern detective adventure with retro visuals, puzzle-solving, and exploration. Players step into the shoes of a man with no memory, uncovering the truth behind a missing king and a forgotten past. The game begins as Dom Sebastião wakes up in a forest, lost and disoriented. Exploring Alcácer, the last place he was seen, he uncovers tales about a missing king while trying to recover his memory and find his way home. It’s a journey that blends history, mystery, and self-discovery. Mist King features 2D retro 8-bit pixel art, inspired by classics like Monkey Island and Darkside Detective. Each environment — from eerie forests to lively city streets — is filled with details and clues that support both storytelling and gameplay. Gameplay focuses on: Exploration Interacting with characters and objects Collecting clues & solving puzzles Players must think like detectives, piecing together memories and unraveling the mystery through logic and observation. The 8-bit synth soundtrack creates a mysterious, nostalgic atmosphere, mixing modern tones with retro charm.
