Tombstone Tactics
WISHLIST ON STEAM Tombstone Tactics is an early prototype showcasing the core loop: as the Lich, raise and command an undead army through a run of battles leading to a final boss. The Lich isn't a unit on the field — it's your run's health pool. Keep it alive to the end. Your undead are built from archetypes — blank stat chassis whose power comes entirely from the items you equip and the upgrades you earn along the way. How to Play Between Battles — Recruit: After each battle you pick one of three cards:Recruit — add a new unit of that archetype to your bench Upgrade — a permanent stat boost applied to an entire archetype (every current and future unit of that type) Passive — grant a permanent triggered passive to an archetype Don't like an offer? Each card can be rerolled once for a different one. Cards show the archetype's stats, the stat changes, or the passive's effect so you know what you're taking. Rest Nodes: At a Rest stop, heal your Lich to recover some of the HP you've lost. Pre-Battle Setup: Surviving units wait on the Bench at the bottom. The bench is persistent — units you don't deploy simply stay for later fights (nothing is lost by leaving them benched). Drag bench units onto tombstones to deploy them; they keep everything equipped. Your deployment cap grows as the run progresses. Drag items from the Item Panel (right side) onto deployed units to equip them — 1 ability slot + 3 item slots per unit. Any item works on any archetype; there are no tiers or rarities. Hover items for detailed tooltips. Sacrifice Altar (bottom-right): once per battle you may reroll — drag a bench unit onto it to swap it for a different archetype (its items return to your inventory), or drag an item onto it to reroll it into another. It greys out once used. Watch your Deployed count and press Battle when ready. Combat: Units auto-attack in real time and build mana by attacking and by taking damage. When mana fills, a unit auto-casts its equipped ability. All auto-attacks deal Physical damage, reduced by the target's Armor. Abilities can deal Magical damage, reduced by Protection. Both use diminishing returns. Shields show as a light-grey extension on a health bar. Run Progression: Your Lich starts at 100 HP — the run ends if it hits zero. Win and your survivors carry into the next node with all items intact. Lose a fight (all deployed units die) and each surviving enemy chips your Lich's HP — tougher enemies hit harder. A lost boss ends the run. Items are never wasted: a unit that dies in combat returns its ability and items to your inventory. Enemies have a chance to drop an item when killed; bosses always drop their full pool — and drops are yours whether you win or lose. Progress along a fixed track of Battle, Elite, and Rest nodes, and defeat the final boss to complete the run.
