CHAOS RPG

CHAOS RPG is a keyboard-driven roguelike dungeon crawler built around a single concept: every attack, spell, heal, and hit runs through the Chaos Engine, a recursively-nested chain of real mathematical functions (Collatz, Lorenz, Mandelbrot, Riemann Zeta, Fourier Harmonic...) that modify the final outcome. Floor 1 has 2 engine links. Floor 50 has 8+. Floor 100+ is fully recursive chaos. The same attack can deal 12 damage or 1,600 damage. That is not a bug. That IS the game. The world is called The Proof. It is the interior of a collapsed mathematical theorem that was never completed. The Mathematician who wrote it vanished. The proof kept computing. You are an unbound variable it never defined. It cannot resolve you. That is why everything in here is trying to kill you. ────────────────────────────────────────────── FEATURES ────────────────────────────────────────────── ● 12 playable classes: Mage, Berserker, Ranger, Thief, Necromancer, Alchemist, Paladin, VoidWalker, Warlord, Trickster, Runesmith, Chronomancer. Each with unique passive abilities and chaos interactions. ● 12 unique bosses with custom mechanics. The Mirror copies your stats. The Committee votes on whether your attack resolves. The Accountant sends you a bill based on your lifetime damage dealt. The Fibonacci Hydra splits on death following the Fibonacci sequence, up to 7 generations and 10 total splits. The Collatz Titan's HP follows the Collatz sequence. The Algorithm Reborn is the dungeon itself, fully aware, adapting to your playstyle across 3 phases. ● 820+ node passive skill tree. 8 class-specific rings, 5 levels deep, connected by bridge clusters. Keystones change the rules entirely. ● 181 achievements across 7 rarity tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, and Omega. Locked achievements show ??? until earned. Includes "404 Damage Not Found," "Perfectly Balanced," "Killed by Math," "Tax Evasion," and "Negative Damage." Full achievement screen with progress bars, category breakdowns, and rarity filters. ● Dwarf Fortress-style body system. 13 independent body parts, each with HP, injury severity (Bruised > Fractured > Shattered > Severed > MATH.ABSENT), and cascading debuffs. ● Deep crafting system with 8 operations: Reforge, Augment, Annul, Corrupt, Fuse, EngineLock, Shatter, and Imbue. Shatter an item to extract modifier shards. Imbue those shards into other gear. Corrupt can destroy your item entirely. Item filter with type-ahead search by name or rarity. ● Chaos Engine Visualizer. Press [V] during combat to see the full engine chain live: engine name, raw input, output, delta, and magnitude bar for every step in the current roll. Watch the math decide your fate in real time. ● Full lore system. Five historical epochs (Axiom Age, Expansion, Recursion, Collapse, The Current). Five factions (Archivists, Remnants, Null Collective, Divergent, Eigenstate Council). Every item material, boss, room type, and chaos engine has a lore reason for existing. ● Auto-generated run narratives. When you die, the game writes a multi-paragraph story about your run. It tracks your biggest hit, closest brush with death, nemesis encounters, boss kills, corruption milestones, and achievement unlocks. Every run has a story, not just a stat block. ● Character Lore Editor. Press [L] on the Character Sheet. Write your own origin, motivation, personality, and custom epitaph. Your lore appears in the character sheet, run history, graveyard, and auto-generated narrative. ● Bestiary. Press [B] on the title screen. Every enemy and boss you have ever fought, cataloged across all runs. Times fought, kills, deaths, max damage observed, and lore descriptions. Boss lore unlocks on first kill. ● Codex. Press [X] on the title screen. The encyclopedia of The Proof. Categories: The Proof, The Epochs, The Engines, The Factions, The Mathematician, Materials, Phenomena, Theories. Entries unlock through gameplay. The Mathematician left five Fragments hidden behind the hardest content in the game. Finding all five is the closest thing to a true ending. ● Flavor text everywhere. Items have rarity-scaled flavor text. Every material has lore. Rare events have unique text. Floor ranges have atmospheric descriptions. Common items: "It works. Don't ask how." Artifacts: "This item should not exist. The proof has no axiom that permits it. And yet." ● Misery and Corruption systems. Accumulate Misery for a separate leaderboard. Survive near-death to build Defiance. Hit 100 Defiance to negate one death. Corruption drifts the math engine's core parameters every 50 kills. By stack 400+, you are running a completely different mathematical system than the one you started with. ● Nemesis system. The enemy that kills you returns stronger on a later floor, titled "Slayer of [your name]," with new abilities based on how it beat you. Kill it for 3x XP, 3x gold, and a Legacy achievement. ● Daily Seed mode with global leaderboard. Same dungeon for everyone each day. Press [D] on the title screen to see today's seed, your personal best, and the global top 100. ● Run history. Press [H] on the title screen. Scrollable table of every run you have ever played with class, score, floor, kills, mode, outcome, and full auto-generated narrative. ● Shareable death recaps. Full cause of death (enemy, damage, floor, crit), two-column stat breakdown (damage dealt, taken, D/T ratio, best hit), and final power tier. ● 3 game modes: Story (10 floors, final boss), Infinite (endless scaling, leaderboard), Daily Seed (global competition). ● Graphical Edition (OpenGL fullscreen) + Terminal Edition (ratatui TUI). Both frontends share the same core library. All game logic, saves, and scoreboards are identical. ● 5 visual themes: VOID PROTOCOL, BLOOD PACT, EMERALD ENGINE, SOLAR FORGE, GLACIAL ABYSS. Switchable with [T]. ● Procedural audio with selectable vibes. All sound synthesized at startup from oscillators and ADSR envelopes. Zero audio files. Three music modes: Chill (evolving ambient with multi-phase compositions), Classic (retuned original), Minimal (breathing sine drone). Configurable from the Settings screen or chaos_config.toml. ● Configurable chaos. chaos_config.toml lets you tune display speed, difficulty, starting gold, music vibe, volume levels, and toggle systems like hunger, nemesis, and corruption. ● Full in-game tutorial. Press [?] on the title screen. 5 slides covering the Chaos Engine, combat, crafting, classes, and survival. ● Save/load mid-run. [F5] to save. [C] on title to continue. ● ~60,000 lines of Rust. Solo-built. No engine. No middleware. ────────────────────────────────────────────── HOW TO PLAY ────────────────────────────────────────────── Launch chaos-rpg-graphical.exe (OpenGL fullscreen) or chaos-rpg.exe (terminal). No installation required. Combat: A=Attack H=Heavy D=Defend T=Taunt F=Flee V=Chaos Visualizer Spells: 1-8 Items: Q-O Navigation: E=Enter room C=Character sheet B=Body chart P=Passive tree L=Lore editor J=Achievements F5=Save ?=Tutorial T=Theme Title: N=New game C=Continue H=Run history D=Daily leaderboard B=Bestiary X=Codex J=Achievements O=Settings ?=Tutorial ────────────────────────────────────────────── THE MATH ────────────────────────────────────────────── 10 mathematical engines: Linear, Lorenz, Zeta, Collatz, Mandelbrot, Fibonacci, Euler, SharpEdge, Orbit, Recursive. Each has different distribution properties. SharpEdge is extreme bimodal. Fibonacci is stable and convergent. Zeta has heavy tails. Recursive is the proof evaluating itself. Each function takes the previous chain output as input. A CRIT in any link multiplies across the entire chain. Press [V] in combat to watch it happen. ────────────────────────────────────────────── CONTENT WARNING ────────────────────────────────────────────── This game contains: numbers becoming very large, body parts labelled MATH.ABSENT, and the phrase "the chaos pipeline has filed a restraining order against you."
