Case IH Magnum 7100-7200 Series

The Case IH Magnum 7100–7200 Series tractors are among the most iconic row-crop tractors ever built, known for their durability, simplicity, and strong performance in medium to high-horsepower farming applications. Introduced in 1987, the 7100 series marked a major turning point for Case IH, being the first completely new tractor line developed after the merger of Case and International Harvester. These tractors—models like the 7110, 7120, 7130, and 7140—ranged roughly from 130 to nearly 200 PTO horsepower and quickly became popular for their reliability and ease of use. Built in Racine, Wisconsin, the 7100 series featured turbocharged 6-cylinder diesel engines, a full powershift transmission, and a standardized chassis across models, which made maintenance and parts compatibility much easier. Their “boxcar” design, roomy cab, and straightforward controls set a new standard for operator comfort and efficiency at the time. The 7200 series, introduced in the early 1990s, built on that foundation with improved performance, updated electronics, and refined hydraulics. Models such as the 7210 through 7250 offered increased horsepower (roughly 150–200+ HP), smoother operation, and better fuel efficiency while maintaining the rugged build that made the earlier Magnums so respected. These tractors continued to use the proven powershift transmission and were designed for a wide range of field tasks—from tillage and planting to heavy pulling applications. Overall, the 7100–7200 Magnum tractors earned a reputation as “workhorse” machines—simple, powerful, and long-lasting.
