Build Your Own Wamao Build Your Own Wamao is a small interactive customisation experience inspired by Wamao (瓦猫), traditional roof guardian figures from Yunnan Province in southwest China. Traditionally placed on rooftops to protect households from evil spirits and misfortune, Wamao are known for their exaggerated and stylised appearances. In this mini-game, you can create your own Wamao by mixing and matching different modular features including eyes, ears, mouths, noses, body shapes, and fur patterns. Explore different combinations and design your own unique guardian statue while learning about a lesser-known piece of regional Chinese cultural heritage.
