Final Fantasy: Reconnect

Important Update Itch.io has a size limit on video games, ive created a support ticket and its pending. As of now, the game is nearly 1.5GB. There's an external link to download Final Fantasy: Reconnect. What is this? Final Fantasy: Reconnect is a one-for-one retelling of the original mobile games of DFFOO (Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia) and FFRK (Final Fantasy: Record Keeper). Since the mobile games shut down, the only way to view the storyline content is on YouTube. My goal here is to tell the stories of these Mobile games while giving the player a "console single player experience." Gachas Gachas still exist; however, they aren't just for weapons. They also exist for characters using In-Game "Dissidia Summons". This is still meant to give the player a rush of pulling in Gacha; each character is designed differently, with its own unique skill, so you actually feel like you're playing someone new. Gameplay Combat is handled like the original FF Titles, classic turn-based, with a twist! Within Combat, each character will have 4 Battle Commands AttackMagicBraveRest On paper, this is just a simple recipe in Turn-based combat with additional options. An in-game tutorial on Combat is provided, but I will explain it here, starting with Attack. Attack Attack, in its simplest form, is just an attack that deals HP damage, but I wanted to keep a rush of roulette. I call this "Controlled RNG". During your attack phase, the character will have a Combat Wheel that spins, offering 6 different options. 4 of the options can range from Attack, Double Attacks, HP/MP Drain attacks, tanking, etc. But each character will have their own set of skills and special. You must time the combat wheel perfectly, so you can select the correct ability. Once you get the rhythm down. Youll be able to use ultimate abilities for each character anytime! Magic Magic is handled differently, too. Magic isn't a roulette wheel but a skill-based input. We'll use Fire as our example. When casting Fire, it'll cost 3 MP. You'll need to type in the Magic Code to cast it, something like up, up, right. If you are successful, you'll cast the spell for 3MP; if unsuccessful, you'll take HP damage. But it doesn't end there, if you are successful, you'll have an opportunity to continue casting Fire, by chain-casting. The Magic code will get longer to type in, and the seconds become shorter, urging you to think fast, and each time you chain-cast, you'll spend 3 more MP. So what happens if you don't have enough MP during the chain-cast? You'll have to power through by using your health. You can keep the chain-cast alive up to 5 times, and if you're able to make it to the 4th chain, your spell will be upgraded to Fire 2. If you're able to make it to the 5th chain, you'll be extra rewarded with a free Firga spell! In total, you'll spend 15 MP, since Fire 2 costs more. ..but wait, there's more. Magic Burst Each element has a counter element, (Fire/water, Ice/Earth, Lightning/Wind, Light/Dark) During your casting, you may inflict a status effect on the enemy, contining with Fire as our example, you may inflict "Burning", which will cause a slight drop in the enemy's HP, along with their attack power, however, this means that the enemy will gain a slight resietences against fire, forcing you to make a decidion during your chain-cast. Continue the chain and cause less damage? Or end the Chain-Casting. Ending the chain early will restore 10-20% of MP, depending on the level you canceled at. If the enemy is inflicted with Burning, you can then Magic Burst, using a Water spell, which will create a new Spell called "Steam", damaging all the enemies on the screen, removing the status effect. So, combining the right team members with counter elements can make or break a fight. Crystal Limit Combat also features "Crystal Limit". A Crystal charges every turn and can be boosted during battle by performing "Crit" attacks and other ways. When the Crystal is fully charged, one random party member will receive a Special command. This Special option allows you to use their Skill or Special command without having to use the Combat Wheel. Brave Within dungeons, you may be rewarded with Brave Skills. Brave skills are used as items. You may receive Brave: Potion. Using BP to restore HP to all allies, or Brave: Ether, to restore MP to all allies. Dungeons Dungeons play out like small Rogue-like games. Upon entering a dungeon, you'll be unable to change out your equipment or relics. You will have around 3-4 battles, some of which are optional. Each battle will grant you either a Brave Skill or a temporary Relic (HP +, ATK +, MAG +, etc.) At the end of the Dungeon, you'll face a boss encounter. If you win, you'll be rewarded and move the story forward. If you die at any time, you'll keep everything you've gained (items, exp) and replay the dungeon. There is also a Moggle in these Dungeons, which allows you to save one time during that run...So save wisely! Relics You can equip up to 3 different relics before entering a Dungeon. These relics will apply status buffs to all the characters in your party. As far as Game-Breaking bugs, I haven't run into any. Some bugs listed that I haven't gotten around to fixing due to being unable to replicate them properly are When changing Party members, sometimes they are left blank. Continue selecting your character, and it will auto-correct itself. When entering the Relic menu and back to the main menu, it may require you hit cancel again to completely get out. If you enter Relic > Equipment, Bug does not appear. If a character does not have a Weapon equipped and you view the Player Card in the main menu, it will crash the game. Best practice is just to leave a weapon on. Future Road Map The future of DFFOO: Demake is uncertain. It's based on the game's popularity; it is just a tech demo showcasing some of my ideas and concepts. My dream? To receive a cease and desist from Square Enix. Honestly, that would be super cool, and I would frame it in my office. But if the community actually likes this game, I will turn it into a full release version. YouTube Channel (Character Guides) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVOhgU9Wvias New Gameplay Footage of a battle with a "Super Boss Battle" Super bosses are staples in RPGs. Final Fantasy is known for having very tough battles that can last hours or even days (looking at you FFXI). Granted, these fights aren't that intense, but they can take some time to adjust to, or to get the engine started. But once it does, everything clicks, and the battle flows properly. Here's a battle with Titan and Shiva with new characters and weapons that haven't been seen before.
