Digging Jim

Digging Jim is a fan-made C++ remake of the classic Boulder Dash–style game originally developed and published by Persei Entertainment in 1999. The original only ran on Windows up to XP and fails to run properly on modern hardware. This remake brings Jim back to life faithfully, and is now fully cross-platform on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Git repo All source code and assets can be found here: https://github.com/chrismalcolm/digging-jim-remake Instructions Download the zip for your OS from the releases page, extract it, and run the DiggingJim executable. No installation required. For full instructions, controls, and documentation, see the official README in the git repo link above.Gameplay You are Jim. Jim digs. Jim collects diamonds. Jim tries very hard not to get crushed. Each cave is a grid of dirt, rocks, enemies, and glittering diamonds. Collect enough diamonds to meet the quota, then reach the exit door, all before the cave timer hits zero. Simple in theory; lethal in practice. Game should play exactly the same as the 1999 original. Due care has been taken to replicate any and all idiosyncrasies, to maintain the genuine experience the game provides. Controls Keyboard controls are faithful to the original. Controller and joystick support has also been added. KeyboardController/JoystickActionDescriptionArrow Keys / W A S D Analog Stick Move / Navigate Move Jim through the cave. Caves you create can be dropped into the caves/ folder and will appear in the main game automatically. There are also some hidden developer feautures which you may enjoy...Disclaimer This was created as a non-commercial tribute. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Persei Entertainment.
