something something made for game a week 2026 week 4: 'Subtractive Design'. ily Anthony, your theme forced me to make a normal game lmao Big thanks to Aleyna for da music: https://cincachai.itch.io/ This is a stripped down version of a game I made way back called Dirt & Decay: https://reecewilliams.itch.io/dirt-and-decayTo fit the theme, what I did was reduce it down to one endless level with just my favourite enemy from that game. Then I built back up again by adding two more enemies that compliment a little, making the background texture change up on each shovel swing, and grabbing Aleyna to create the musical vibe I planned for the original one. In Dirt & Decay I decided to just grab royalty free tracks and upload it so I could finally move on with my life. I do love game dev tho I swear. Rules: * Arrow to walk, mouse to aim, left click to squash bugs, right click to push them back and plant flowers* Big bugs take three swings to squash. They're all big bugs* You're a flower. You're pretty and you smell nice* When you hit the big bugs' antennae it'll turn red and you have about a second before it launches in the direction the antennae was pointing. It's not super hard to dodge until there's a lot of them.* A berry bush spawns in after 30 secs and every min after that* Every minute as many fireflies will spawn as minutes survived. You can put out the fire with the water or just squash them* Just endless, my highscore is 183.278 seconds. plz post your highscore and if it's over 300 I'll be really curious to see the run 👀 Story: You are the last flower in the garden. You are a charlatan, and that's okay. You don't feed on dirt and you don't drink water. But that's okay. You wriggle your roots freely across the battlefield, and you give away what water you find freely and with abundance. And this is more than okay. Your Rudolph's-Red-Nose is your super power. And Gotham needs a hero or something. Splay bug blood across this bug infested bed so that the dirt may be enriched with nutrients once more. Offer water to your former plant friends, currently overwhelmed with rot and torment, so that they may take root and settle down to live a life you can only dream of. Have faith that karma is real. One day, the bug kingdom will fall and justice will be dealt. But we cannot bring about that day in one day, so today we do what we must to survive, so that on another we may have the chance to thrive. And we will keep our hearts pure and free from jade so that we may make use of our new found abundance on that thriving day. Carpe Diem, and see you space cowboy.
