Our goal was to highlight the absurdity and ridiculousness of the restrictions imposed on people during the Portuguese dictatorship. By making the player take on the role of a PIDE officer—blocking everything from hats and random conversation topics to books—we aimed to create an emotional connection and convey the message that these individuals were mistreated and stripped of their individuality. They were not allowed to hold opinions that opposed the government or express their suffering and dissatisfaction without facing punishment. Even the media was heavily manipulated, controlling what people could read and limiting the information available to them. The game is a parody that starts off lighthearted and fun, with the protagonist enforcing the government's strict regulations by censoring citizens. The playful visuals are intentionally misleading, distracting the player in the same way the government distracted the people at the time. Everything seems fine—until you start paying attention and realize the message is hidden in plain sight. In the end, no matter what the player does, the revolution always happens—freeing the Tuguinhas!
