Help alien beings solve their problems, even when you can't yet fully understand their language. Through generosity and curiosity, you'll build trust, unlock new forms of communication, and slowly transform your home planet into a space that reflects the connections you’ve made. Created for the thatgamecompany × COREBLAZER GAME JAM 2025, Voice in the Void explores how small acts of giving can bridge vast distances, and how every connection leaves its mark on the world you create. OpenAI's API is used to simulate each individual being's response, including their unique personality, context, and the difficulties they are facing. At the same time, it serves as an assessment of the player's behavior.Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the ThemeOur brainstorm started with defining acts of generosity, and we eventually settled on its implicit virtues of open-mindedness and patience when interacting with other people, especially those that we have yet to fully understand.This led to a chat-based game where players interact with extraterrestrial beings whose messages are encrypted, and through showing more generosity towards the aliens, you understand each other more. Finally, gifts are given to you by the thankful aliens, and you get to decorate your home planets with these gifts that represents the connections you've made.While at the moment, the aliens are simulated by ChatGPT, we intend to extend this game into multiplayer, where the players can send gifts to each other, and a thriving community of giving and sharing beyond language is formed.How to play:Send a message into the void. Aliens may respond! At first, your frequencies won’t align, so their replies will appear garbled. As friendliness grows, messages become clearer. There’s no set ending for now.
