Not Everything is Black & White...

Not Everything is Black & White is a game developed by me. Everything you see in this game, except the music which I obtained through an open source sound library, was created by me in the Unity Engine. ============How to Play?============= The controls for Not Everything is Black & White are very simple. Left Arrow + Right Arrow / A + D = Move left and right Space Button = Jump Bottom Left Corner Button = Shifts player to Small or Large Bottom Right Corner Button = Resets the Level Back to the Start Top Right Corner Button = Closes the Game Top Left Corner Button = Mutes the Music As mentioned above, the player had a button that allows them to shift between large and small. Here are the advantages and disadvantages to both: Small: Smaller Hitbox / Faster Running / Bleeds through Ink (Health) Quicker / Large: Larger Hitbox / Higher Jump / Bleeds through Ink (Health) Slower ---------------------------------------------------------- I'd love to talk more about my game so if that is something you are interested in, keep reading! ============About============= This is quite possibly one of the weirdest games I have ever made. The game has no story, no defined main character, and no real quest. All of this though, is intentional. You are just a stick figure, jumping through a black and white plane, dodging threats to make it to the end. But why? I realized about halfway making this game that I didn't really have a set idea for the game and I was just making a black and white themed platformer. I noticed while playing through that the game was kind of eerie so I leaned into that more as part of the game's identity. I wouldn't even really call it a game as much as I would call it an experience. The are several things I did purposefully to create the proper atmosphere for this experience. There is no title screen or pause menu. The only sounds the player can hear is ambient music. At some points, the player is nearly entirely hidden off screen. When the player wins, they are frozen in time with the words "You Win?" appearing on screen. The only way to restart the game post "victory?" is to reload the browser page. You have three enemies you encounter in your travels. They are:Itsy Bitsy - Just a regular spider... Hope you aren't afraid of them...Fireface - Fireface is a bit of a hot head. He will push you out of the way if you get too close. But can you really blame him... he is literally on fire. Devilcow - Devilcow is so misunderstood. Devilcow just wants to play dodgeball with others but nobody seems interested. Many are creeped out at the fact that instead of Devilcow using Devilcow's wings to fly, Devilcow simply hovers above the ground... ============Game Jam============= This game was created for the 72 hour Halloween Game Jam hosted by SoloDevelopment. You can find the link to the jam here. In the spirit of the jam, once the submission deadline hits, I will not be altering the game any more.
