what's-the-signal A signal cuts through the static. You are the operator on the other end of a CRT terminal — decode it, descend through the grid, and find out what's broadcasting. what's-the-signal is a pixel-art auto-battler roguelike rendered entirely on a green-phosphor monitor. Build a loadout, scout enemies on the radar, and survive long enough to triangulate the source. Radar / overworld map — TAB toggles the grid view. FEATURES Auto-battler combat — position your loadout, watch encounters resolve in real time. Dozens of artifacts across multiple types and tiers — every run is a different stat curve. Radar exploration — discover chests, enemies, and terrain on a tile grid that fogs in as you move. Treasure chest choices — pick one, skip for coins, regret nothing. CRT phosphor aesthetic — an 8-color green palette, scanlines, pixel sigils. A single accent red, used only for damage and bosses. One-handed play — runs in your browser, no install. Auto-combat resolves in real time. Your input is the loadout you brought. TREASURE CHESTS Every chest is a fork: take one of the artifacts on offer, or skip the lot for coins. Coin runs are valid runs. Treasure chest choice — pick one, or skip for coins. ENEMIES Several enemy archetypes (E01, E02, E03, …) with distinct movement, range, and signal patterns. Read the codex; a misread costs HP. [INSERT SCREENSHOT: enemies-codex.png — Enemy codex, early entries.] BOSSES Several signal sources, several bosses. Each shifts the rules of combat. B01 — PYRAMID B02 — HORNED B03 — VORTEX HOW TO PLAY TAB — open the radar / map WASD — move on the grid Combat resolves automatically — your job is positioning and the loadout you brought in Pause / fast-forward with the speed controls (top of the screen) STATUS In active development. Expect rough edges, balance swings, and new artifacts every devlog. Feedback in the comments is read. If you broke the signal, tell me how — bugs & balance reports welcome.
