You Are Not Alone

What's scarier - seeing the monster, or just knowing it's there? This is a PS1-style horror game demo, made as my university graduation project. Below are two versions of the same game: one that shows the monster directly, and the other that just hints at the monster being there using varying sounds. The theme for my project was seeing and analyzing how those two approaches affect fear in a player. Download whatever version you like first (I recommend trying version 1 first for the best results), and then try the other one. Were you more scared when you could just hear the monster but couldn't see it anywhere, or perhaps when it suddenly appeared near you and you saw its face?
